Charging through Pennsylvania

With auto manufacturers placing an increased focus on hybrid electric vehicles, we are excited to see different organizations and companies across Pennsylvania stepping up to the plate in the construction of EV charging stations!

There are currently no public chargers available for access in the Central PA region. As you can see on the map below, chargers in PA are largely restricted to Pittsburgh in the west and Philadelphia in the east. However, this is something that appears to be changing, as several different announcements have been made about possible EV charger installations near the center of the state.

Sheetz, Inc. announced last September that they intend to work with 350Green to install at least 5 EV chargers at locations across PA.

Then in December, the PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) announced a $1 million donation to the PA Turnpike for the installation of EV chargers at 17 rest stations across Interstate 76.

We are excited to see these kind of projects materializing, and are hoping to see EV chargers around State College sometime in the near future! Who knows – maybe we’ll end up using them to charge our Malibu in Years Two and Three.
